We express our solidarity to the miners and energy workers in our neighboring country Bulgaria, where for the last 9 days there has been a battle to preserve the remains of the Bulgarian energy industry.
The biggest, so far, mobilizations in the mining sector started on 29 September, when protesting workers blocked roads and key points in the country in response to the plans of closing the coal power plants in Pernik, Kyustendil and Stara Zagora.
On 2 October, the fourth day of the protests, miners and workers from Bobov Dol successfully broke through police blockades and blocked the Struma motorway. Workers at the mines and Maritza-East 2″ held the Trakia highway for the fourth day and also closed the road used by trucks at two new blockades near Stara Zagora and Rantnebo.
We support our comrades of the 23 September Movement (Движение “23 септември”) in their struggle alongside with the striking workers and their just demands.
Hands off the mines that were built and belong to the Bulgarian people!
NO to the interruption of electricity production and the destruction of the life of entire regions that will lead thousands of workers to unemployment!
Down with the monopolies of “green” energy!
Victory for the miners!
