At a time when the ongoing World War is rapidly escalating, with active fronts in Palestine, Iran, and Ukraine, and with tensions escalating in Venezuela and Cuba, we are witnessing a rise in state-backed and fascist acts of terrorism against comrades across the world.
More specifically, a fascist attack was recently carried out against our comrades of the ‘Movement 23 September’ (Движение “23 септември”) in Bulgaria and members of our Trans-Balkan Coordination. It is clear that the comrades in Bulgaria, together with the militant movement that has emerged against the country’s entry into the Eurozone, constitute a major threat both to the domestic authorities and to the European imperialists. From Greece and the Balkans, we cannot help but acknowledge those who are fighting for a better future and for the independent and free development of their country.
We express our solidarity with the comrades of the ‘Movement 23 September’ in Bulgaria and condemn the state-backed/fascist attack against them. The day of the attack was not random. It took place during the celebration of Victory Day against Fascism of 9th May in Sofia, resulting in injuries to some of their members.
We would expect nothing less from the state- affiliated mechanisms of the Bulgarian state than their contribution to the effort to suppress and undermine the country’s anti-fascist and anti-imperialist movement.
All of this is extremely significant within the context of the current international situation, where we see the polarization between imperialist and anti-imperialist forces becoming increasingly intense, especially when these forces maintain continuous anti-imperialist activity, as our comrades in Bulgaria do. When they strike one of us, they strike all of us. Fascist attacks such as these demonstrate the need for coordinated and joint Trans-Balkan anti-imperialist and anti-fascist action so that fascism is eradicated and solidarity and cooperation among the Balkan peoples may flourish.
Our minds and hearts are with you in this struggle — especially with our own Balkan peoples, who share so much in terms of culture, history, socio-economic problems, and and dependence from imperialist countries.
SOLIDARITY WITH OUR BULGARIAN COMRADES of ‘MOVEMENT 23 SEPTEMBER’!
Victory to the forces of anti-imperialism, anti-fascism, revolution and socialism!
Long live internationalist anti-imperialist solidarity!
Long live the 9th of May!
